Water helps pupils to concentrate in class, it prevents dehydration and it improves hygiene. Project Completed The new classrooms at Aba Entoniyos School are completed! Teaching Starts From today, Aba Entoniyos School starts teaching Grade 5 pupils in two of our new classrooms and the Grade 1 class which was previously being taught in a temporary shelter outside will now move into the third of our new classrooms. Lots of the local community recently joined in a ceremony to officially open the new classrooms.
School’s situation Defecha Elementary School is situated in beautiful surroundings high above the Angereb River in northern Ethiopia. Its nearest town is Gondar which is roughly an hour away by foot. At the time of writing, the school caters for Grades 1 to 4 after which pupils often stop their education and help their parents at home or in the fields. New classrooms ready The first ever proper classrooms are ready and in use at the Anchow Mikael school, about an hour outside of Gondar. Until about a year ago, the pupils were taught under temporary shelters made of branches and sticks which washed away with every heavy rainstorm. For less than £1000, the local community has been able to build an impressive double classroom and the pupils are now enjoying year-round education!
